Dear all Orient+ followers,
I hope you and your family are doing well during this festive season. It has been a difficult year for most of us as the pandemic spread across the whole world. Countries around the world have to stop economic activities in order to prevent the spread of the virus. In Hong Kong and China, most tradeshows have been cancelled, while international business travels have been postponed. One year has passed and thankfully we have progress in the vaccine development. Scientists are also collecting more data about the virus, so that we can find more effective ways to tackle it. Lately, the situations in Hong Kong and China have become more under control, business activities and trade shows have started taking place again. Regional travel bubbles have also been formed. We may need more time before international business travel comes back, but I believe we are heading to the right direction. Even though you cannot travel in person to China or Hong Kong now, it does not mean that you have to stop your business. Remember, if you need any service here, be it inspect factories, visit trade shows, quality check of your products, or even perform company check, you can count on our expertise to provide the best service. Meanwhile, if you need assistance regarding your online work, such as translate your website to Chinese, interpret for ZOOM meetings, or facilitate communication with your counterparts in China, we are also here for you. Let us hope that 2021 will be a better year, and we all have a healthy body to welcome it. On behave of the Orient+ team, I wish you all a Merry Christmas and a prosperous new year. Stay safe, Mr. Lau Director Orient+ (HK) Welcome to the Natural and Organic Products Asia (NOPA) and Gourmet Asia trade show, the first trade fair in Hong Kong since the pandemic started in the beginning of the year. As part of its anti-pandemic measures, the Hong Kong SAR government announced on 2 June that the compulsory 14-day quarantine of persons arriving in Hong Kong from overseas will be extended until 18 September 2020. The extension of this restriction means that overseas exhibitors and buyers will have great difficulty joining the Summer Souring Week* in July. Therefore, HKTDC has decided to migrate the physical exhibition to virtual platform, Summer Sourcing Weeks丨GO ONLINE, to enable companies to continue exploring business opportunities. The online show will be held from 27 July to 7 Aug 2020.
The online show will include these fairs: Hong Kong International Lighting Fair (Spring edition) Hong Kong Electronic Fair (Spring edition) International ICT Expo Hong Kong Houseware Fair Hong Kong International Home Textiles and Furnishings Fair Hong Kong Fashion Week Hong Kong International Printing and Packaging Fair Hong Kong Gifts and Premiums Fair Hong Kong International Medical and Healthcare Fair While you cannot travel to China during the pandemic period, our presence in China and Asia means we can help you inspect factories, revise products and equipment, perform quality check, and any other services that you would need. Earlier today, the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement restricting entry to China to foreign nationals, including those foreigners with residence permits, as well as foreigners in tourist groups from Hong Kong, Macao SAR and Guangxi.
The measures are being implemented in order to reduce the spread of COVID - 19 and will take effect from 00:00 on March 28, 2020 and will continue until further notice. The restriction does not affect foreigners with a diplomatic visa. Only foreigners who require entry to China for absolutely necessary economic, commercial, scientific or technological activities, or for humanitarian emergency activities, may apply for a visa at a Chinese consulate.
