Taking into account the current development of the novel coronavirus outbreak, and in line with the health measures taken by the Hong Kong SAR Government, the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) has decided to reschedule eight HKTDC trade fairs originally scheduled for 6-30 April 2020. Under the new arrangement, the 1) Hong Kong International Lighting Fair (Spring Edition), 2) Hong Kong Electronics Fair (Spring Edition), 3) International ICT Expo, 4) Hong Kong Houseware Fair, 5) Hong Kong International Home Textiles and Furnishings Fair, 6) Hong Kong Fashion Week, 7) Hong Kong Gifts & Premium Fair, and 8) Hong Kong International Printing & Packaging Fair will be postponed and held concurrently from 25 to 28 July 2020 at the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Center. We will keep you informed when we receive new information about the upcoming trade fairs in Hong Kong and China. Last week, the International Medical and Healthcare Fair took place in the Convention Center in Hong Kong. This fair focuses on more advanced equipment for the medical and healthcare industry. It takes place every March and September of the year. China's Belt and Road Initiative boosts infrastructural development in Serbia, helps the country maintain and create jobs, and increases bilateral economic cooperation, Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabic said this week while attending the third international conference organized by the Belgrade Strategic Dialogue titled "Belt and Road Initiative in the Balkans". Brnabic said the citizens of Serbia can already see the results of the Belt and Road Initiative in the construction of new roads and bridges, the reconstruction and modernization of railways, the implementation of energy and environmental protection projects, as well as in enhanced cooperation between the companies of the two countries. Brnabic estimated that the Chinese companies already present in the Serbian market have preserved 5,000 jobs at the Smederevo steelworks,which was taken over by Hesteel in 2016, and will secure another 5,000 jobs at the Mining and Smelting Combine Bor, thanks to China's Zijin Mining Group. "We look forward to continuing cooperation in a number of other projects, including education, which is high on the list of priorities of the Serbian government," Brnabic said, highlighting that the Ivo Andric Serbian Cultural Center, the second of its kind in the world, opened in Beijing on Nov. 29. Chinese Ambassador to Serbia Li Manchang said there is great potential for cooperation between China and Serbia in agriculture and the construction of industrial parks at several locations across the country. Directly from the Hong Kong International Wine and Spirits Fair, the most important trade show for producers of wine, beer and spirits that want to enter the Chinese market. China has high tariff for alcohol, while Hong Kong has 0% tariff for wine, and low tariff for beer and spirits. The biggest fruit and agri-products trade show in Asia, the Asia Fruit Logistica (AFL), finished last Friday in Hong Kong. In this 3-day trade show, producers and exporters of agricultural products from around the world showcasted their products in front of more than 8000 professional visitors from China and Asia, the fastest growing market globally today. The Natural and Organic Products Asia (NOPA) tradeshow took place in Hong Kong last week. It is the most important show of this kind in the region. Suppliers from all parts of the world participate in this annual trade fair to meet their Asian buyers in this ever growing industry. |
